As our triathlon season comes to a close and we look forward to the club Awards Night, Lexa, who has just finished her first season as a (no longer) novice, shared a few things she’s learnt along the way:
- You can become a morning person. Early sessions are how she fits training in and is home before her small children wake up.
- Triathlon is for everyone. We might not all be the fastest, but our community is the best, and that’s why it’s for everyone.
- Make a race checklist and keep checking it. In one season she forgot her race bib, socks, bike labels and water bottle, briefly lost her ankle tag and forgot to dismount at the line. Thankfully friends, family and a kind technical official had her back.
- Training with others is more fun. Swimming, cycling and running with people turned out to be much more enjoyable than going solo.
There’s plenty on over winter too, with Corey’s swim sessions, Triple Tri recces and social club runs. Let’s keep supporting and motivating each other into the new season.
Kelly’s first marathon
Kelly completed her first marathon at the Bravehearts 777 Marathon in Canberra on 5 July, after working through a series of half marathons in the lead-up. Well done Kelly!
