Vikings raid Wollongong, plus a sell-out Kids Tri

Wollongong Triathlon

Many Vikings travelled up the highway for the Peoplecare Wollongong Triathlon, rewarded with delightful weather and near-perfect conditions (bar the wind). With plenty of shout-outs from the commentators, the Vikings energy shone through.

  • Sprint: Adam, Hayley, Court, Mark, Charlotte, Glynn, Mel and Lauren. Adam was our fastest finisher in his first race since his solo Triple Tri, and Charlotte smashed her first sprint, beating her 90-minute goal.
  • Standard: Jacki and Kelly, both very quick while still smiling for the photos.
  • Standard aquabike: Fi finished 4th overall and 1st in her age group.

Thanks to Courtney, Kelly and Matt for setting up the Vikings tent in the perfect spot.

ACT Kids Tri

A huge thank you to Anurag and ACT Triathlon for a sell-out Kids Triathlon on 19 April, with 135 competitors in the 7–9 age group alone and races right up to age 18. As always, plenty of Vikings volunteered. Special thanks to Corey for setting up transition and the pool, and to Peter, Luke, Liz, Michelle, Adrian, Ainsley, Rod and Bruce. Several Vikings families had kids racing too.

Around the traps

  • Bec, Courtney and Mel ran the one-off Western Sydney International Airport Runway Run, and Courtney set a 5 km PB.
  • The Sri Chinmoy winter trail series began with the Cooleman Clip, and Narelle won a medal in the 5 km.
  • Woden parkrun was our club parkrun this month, and Rachel ran a sub-25-minute 5 km.
