Congratulations to the novices of the Mitchell’s Glass Novice Program, who raced their first triathlon at the Canberra Tri for Fun at Stromlo! A few were nervous, but they all powered through to the finish, and there were plenty of smiles at the line. Hopefully they’re hooked.
Michael finished 3rd male overall. What a debut!
A massive shout-out to all the Vikings who got up early to volunteer and support. That’s what we’re all about.
That’s what Vikings do
Our President Lauren shared a story from the day. After finishing his own race, her son went back out and ran with a girl who was struggling, encouraging her all the way around her run leg. When asked if he knew her, he said, “Nah, but that’s what Vikings do.”
That is what Vikings do.
The novices still have two weeks of the program to go, with open water swimming and more bike and run practice. Some of them will line up at the Jackie Fairweather Triathlon on 7 December, followed by the club Christmas BBQ.
